How To Sooth An Itchy Scalp......

IMG_1968

Ladies I hold my hand up & admit that I, like sixty percent of the global population suffer from itchy scalp & Dandruff! Not only is it not glamorous, it also makes you feel self conscious, restless & frustrated.

After spending a good deal of my teens washing my hair every other day & 'suffering in silence' with my irritable scalp, I wanted to share with you all two of my tried & tested, 'no frills' products that have helped my scalp feel & look healthy again, as well as restoring my love for my hair!

Head & Shoulders Citrus Fresh Shampoo: I am not afraid to admit it, for years I have used Head & Shoulders to try to combat my dry & (gulp) dandruff prone scalp. Not only do I personally suffer from a sensitive & dry scalp, but also my roots become fairly greasy after the second day meaning that I have two big nasties to tackle. The Citrus Fresh version of this shampoo I find works the best for me, as its formulation is made specifically for greasy hair. It doesn't smell too lemony almost a little bit herbal which when applied to the scalp, gives off a cool, soothing sensation. What I love most about this shampoo is how calm my scalp feels after using it, which makes a huge difference to the way my hair feels everyday.

Boots Build Up Removal Expert Shampoo: A few months back, I started to notice straight after washing & blow drying my hair that for some reason my hair would look greasy & limp, as though I had not washed it at all. After numerous frantic google searches & badgering my mum to examine my hair, (lol!) I came to the conclusion that my hair was wighted down with product *cough dry shampoo* & needed a good old detox. I didn't want to splash out & buy the Bumble & Bumble Sunday Shampoo (which I did eventually buy!) so again headed to google search to find a cheaper alternative, where I found many rave reviews on a boots own brand! This shampoo is liquid gold- removes product build up like a dream leaving my hair feeling super clean & voluminous as well as looking super glossy & healthy days after. The only negative that I do find when I use this is, like all clarifying shampoos is that it is too harsh to use every time you wash your hair & although I only wash my hair twice a week, I tend to use this every other week as it can become too harsh on my scalp making it become greasy on day two. That aside I love this shampoo as a cheap, fortnightly hair detox & actually when alternated between hair washes with my Head & Shoulders Shampoo, keeps my scalp feeling a lot calmer & health looking. Side Note- expect a comparison post between The Bumble & Bumble Sunday Shampoo & this one next week!

What are your hair 'unsung heros'?

Much Love,
Elle

Old fashion glamour, Lace, Muted Colours & Sleek Hair were the key elements featured along the red carpet for the Met Gala this year.

My 'muse' of the moment- Emma Stone looked simple & sleek yet trendy in a Thakoon fascia maxi skirt complete with side split, with a light pink crop top exposing the hint of stomach. Others who made my best dressed included Blake Lively in Gucci, Leighton Meester in Emilio Pucci, Emmy Rossum in Carolina Herrera & Jessica Alba in Diane Von Furstenberg

Who was your favourite this year?

Being Elle: The Sunday Catch Up 018.....

2014-05-04

1. Monday started off on a really crappy note- My Grandpa had been taken into a hospital after a mild stroke, he is fine now doing a lot better then he was, but it just puts life into perspective I suppose & just makes you realise that your grandparents may not be around for that much longer.

2. My Sims Three obsession has returned- Adam you only have yourself to blame, as he exclaimed (whilst tidying my tech box) 'you don't play on The Sims anymore!' Oh, don't I?!

3. Now that the warm weather has started to return, I have been contemplating buy the Sally Hansen Airbrushed Legs Tan Glow. I have seen some really amazing pictures of the befores & afters on Pinterest which make me really want to give it a go, so if any of you guys have tried this or something similar let me know how you got on with it.

4. Never go into Marks & Spencer's hungry kids! This lesson was truly learnt on Wednesday after popping into my local one on my lunch break for a bottle of water, quickly turned into a full blown food splurge *slaps self on wrist*. However, I thankfully discovered the joys of their Falafal Balls (remember my craving for falafal in my last TSCU?) which definitely scratched an itch!

5. Also on Wednesday I dug my sad iPhone out of it's rice bed to discover it was alive! Yes guys the rice saved it, its a miracle! Although my new phone arrived on the same day meaning I now have two working phones *face palm*. So if anyone needs an iPhone 4, just ask!

6. Friday night was date night. This week we treated ourselves to an Ask complete with Buffalo Mozzarella, Parma Ham & Rocket Pizza, glass of Rose & a Garlic Bread to share. After chowing that bad boy down, we headed off to watch The Amazing Spiderman Two which was epic! Having already seen it once for my brothers birthday & thoroughly enjoying it, I was looking forward to seeing it again & wow I just loved it! Definitely a must see.

7. I have been obsessed with Palmers Coco Butter Body Lotion- smells so yummy, you would think it was edible & keeps my pins & hands soft & moisturised. Predict this will be my 'go to' body lotion for the rest of the year!

8. Saturday night was a little bit random- half of it was spent chilling on the sofa, eating a bowl full of pasta & chargrilled veg whilst laughing at the Top Gear's Africa Special repeat on Dave. & the other half was spent at an eighteen year old's birthday party, watching eighteen year old's make total fools out of themselves falling onto the floor (alcohol induced) & sticking there tongues down each others throats! That last sentence made me feel like a total granny, but jeez it was cringy! Two guesses as to where I would rather have been!?

9. Today (Sunday) has been spent on a bit of a spring cleaning mission. I packed away all my thick knits for the summer, bagged up some old clothes for recycling & went through my magazine pile. How productive!

What have you been up to this week?

Much Love,
Elle
